The Dragon and the City

Many thanks to our colleagues at Colorado Christian University who invited Nick Rider and I to present a workshop for their faculty. Nick and I presented on the Campus Course Development Framework. In keeping with our ethos as a team that values storytelling and the activation of affective neural networks, we started the session with an analogous story- The Dragon and the City. You can read our short story by reading the notes that accompany each slide in this presentation. In true read-aloud fashion, the faculty participants viewed the images while I read aloud, and when the image of the Dragon appeared, there were definitely chuckles around the room. We fight the consumer-mindset dragon every day, and in our time together we discussed that perhaps an attack of the mindset is less effective than a defense strategy. Our defense? Build better courses.
